Online grief therapy & EMDR in Washington & Iowa
For the one who holds everyone else together.
Grief, trauma and anxiety therapy for adults who are tired of being the strong one. Depth work, from your own couch, with someone who won't flinch.
On paper, you're crushing it.
You're the one everyone calls. You run the meeting, remember the birthdays and know exactly where the spare key is. People tell you how put together you are. (If they only knew.)
You're going through the motions. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you suspect this has a lot to do with where you came from. You just don't know what to do with that information, other than buy another book about it.
I believe we can heal from our past without living in it forever.
You already figured out how to survive, and honestly, it was impressive. The hypervigilance, the people-pleasing, the knack for spotting trouble three moves ahead: all of it kept you safe. It's just exhausting to run at full power in a life that doesn't need it anymore.
I work with deep feelers with deep wounds. People who would rather hear the truth than a pep talk, and who can laugh at the absurd parts while still taking the hard parts seriously. Together, we go back to the old wounds and resolve what's stuck, so peace and connection stop feeling like something you have to perform.
More about meThe heavy stuff, taken seriously.
Grief Tending
Grief needs to be tended, not fixed. A partner, a parent, a future you'd planned, the version of you that existed Before: all of it belongs here, including the rage and the dark jokes. Aperture offers 60 to 120-minute sessions built around grief.
Trauma
Trauma cuts you off from parts of yourself and from the people you love. You learned to keep the lid on the box for good reason. EMDR helps your brain finish processing what got stuck, so the past stops running the present.
Anxiety
Anxiety keeps you time traveling: replaying what already happened and rehearsing everything that might. We bring you back to right now, with tools that work in your body and not only in your head.
Three steps, at your pace.
Test the waters
A free 15–20 minute video consult. Ask me anything, tell me a little about what's going on, and we'll both get a feel for whether this is a fit.
Dive in
We get to the root of things. You'll learn tools to steady yourself, and we'll do the deeper work together in session, at a pace your nervous system can handle.
Take a breath
Life gets roomier. You understand yourself better, you're kinder to yourself, and you spend more of your days living your life instead of managing it.
You don't have to carry the weight alone. Or forever.
Whatever you've been holding, there's room to set some of it down here.
No traffic. No waiting room. No pulling yourself together in the parking lot.
Every session happens online, from wherever you feel safest. Wear the sweatpants. Bring the dog. Keep the tissues within arm's reach.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the bill for items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, in writing, at least one business day before your service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 368-1019.
